This was my first fast action shoot and so a lot of room for improvement... looking forward to using my new DEFY gimbal next time. I decided to post anyway because the skateboarders are so awesome. The first section was captured with the Panasonic GH3. During the 2nd section I used my new Blackmagic Cinema Pocket camera but felt like I was flying blind as I was so not sure of exposure and focus - the view finder is just about useless in daylight! Next time I will have the Cineroid EVF4 monitor so I can actually see what I am doing! This is my 2nd color grade as I learn more how to use LUTs with the BMPCC.
Be sure to watch the last section here - I was standing up and shooting through the sunroof of my friend Erik's vehicle hanging on for dear life while trying to keep the camera steady as he followed the racing skateboarders! Erik had his Nikon D600 mounted to the hood of the vehicle - you can view a superb film of such footage in "The Mountain" which he and his son Shaye have produced.
Finally, as I musician, which is my main livelihood, for the soundtrack here, I used a cut from my own CD "Kiss of Fire" recorded with violinist Don Lax with whom I perform at the Four Seasons Resort on Maui, a gig which we have had for many years.
