Welcome to the West
It was a Saturday night when we shot this video. We met at the Kensington Pub – I was there first, just too excited. Clearly I’m not one of those cool musicians. Anyway, from sitting around the booth with the Welcome to the West ladies and dudes – ideas and opinions lying hither and thither – I’m reminded of what is great about this city and its people.
Later, just as we were leaving, a few groups of stragglers came in as we walked out. I was beginning to see that it was more than shooting videos – these cats are gathering people together. Stepping outside, the Bitterweed and Desert Boots crews were waiting. Though they were a little stubbly and a little slurry, it was all hugs and smiles.
It was like a parade down Kensington road by the time we left K Pub. The original Idea was to climb the watch tower at St. Johns elementary school. But that would be too complicated, and the climbers were too inebriated. But as I sat in this tree with all these fine young folks singing along to my song, I felt truly inspired and supported.
Lots of Love
