Every other year, MJDS students in junior kindergarten through fifth grade participate in a six-week unit of study called Folk Fair. Each grade focuses on a different country and learns about the culture through dynamic and engaging hands-on activities. Students explore the arts, music, literature, dances and cuisines of other countries, as well as the cultures’ Jewish history and traditions. This in-depth study helps the children appreciate and understand the importance of diversity. And while students are having fun learning about other cultures, they’re also practicing their reading, writing and speechmaking skills.
