Through out my life, I have attended many concerts (Much more so now that I’m photographing them on a regular basis). One of the things I've learned by going to so many concerts is that the show is not strictly about the artist on stage. Of course they are the main attraction but a concert is an event. You need to take in everything that’s going on around you; the line to get in, what’s on tap at the bar, the sexy girl standing next to you who you might ask to dance, as well as the band you came to see.
This project is about those random interactions we make with other concert go-er’s. It’s about the anticipation we feel as we wait for our favorite band to get on stage. The project was shot using a technique called hyper-lapse photography. I feel this was the necessary technique to convey the feeling of anticipation because of the feeling of motion I get from watching it. The feeling of movement adds to the anxiety and action of the event.
