One of a series of videos on Seaweed Farming in the Philippines.
Shannon Arnold works for PAKISAM, a national confederation of Small Farmers’ and Fishers’ Organisation who works with the Seaweed Farmers of Caluya. In November 2013, typhoon Haiyan destroyed 80% of the seaweed farms of the communities on the Caluya Islands.
Following the typhoon Shannon and her colleagues set up Operation Seaweed Caluya (simply type in the name on facebook), a fundraising initiative that is helping the seaweed farmers of Caluya get back on their feet. LAMAVE is supporting the initiative. If you would like to donate please visit our donate page on our website: lamave.org/publications/donate/
The video was shot by LAMAVE's Steve De Neef and Sally Snow on their trip to the islands in December 2013.
