One Friday night in 1964, Dominic Bellissimo was tending bar at the now legendary Anchor Bar Restaurant in Buffalo, NY. That evening, a group of his friends came by with ravenous appetites so Dom asked his mom, Teressa, to cook them something to eat. Using what she had on hand, she deep fried some chicken wings (at that time considered a throw-away food) and flavored them with Frank’s RedHot Sauce and butter.
They were an instant hit and soon became a permanent addition to their menu. The rest as they say, is herstory, and Teressa Bellissimo has been universally acknowledged as the creator of the iconic Buffalo Wing ever since.
