Of the eight steam engines that appeared at Train Festival 2009, the one that traveled the farthest and attracted the largest audience was Southern Pacific 4449, also affectionately known as "The Daylight". Based in Portland, Oregon, 4449 traveled over 2500 miles to reach the festival in Owosso, Michigan.
This beautiful steam engine pulled two of the all-day trips from Owosso to Alma, Michigan. Here are highlights from the Friday excursion.
Enjoy the full-length story of this historic trip on our DVD "Midwest Steam 2009 - Part 1". More information and buy the DVD here: yardgoatimages.com/store-2#ecwid:category=360233&mode=product&product=1215243
