OPERATION REMEDIUM aims to catalyze and stabilize circuits of ecological decontamination and human occupation. It is centered on a series of plume-treating mulch biowalls injected into the subsurface, which are the product of interrelated forest thinning and woodchip mulching processes. Through mulch, circulation and occupation are redesigned to marry moments of civilian and military life. Through mulch, the forest is transformed and opened for further use. Operation Remedium is about the remediation of the Cape’s contaminated groundwater, the symbiotic creation of a joint military and civilian mulch industry, and the encouragement of life with and within the forest.
