Southampton wanted to proactively reach its residents online to keep them informed about council services. Southampton chose GovDelivery as a cost-effective platform that improved customer satisfaction, centralised communication processes, and ensured performance could be measured at a granular level. Southampton established performance goals for its implementation and surpassed its three month pilot goal by 32% and its 12-month goal by 23%. To date, Southampton has more than 73,000 subscribers and has sent 2.3 million messages. Southampton consistently achieves a high engagement rate and residents report an 87% satisfaction rate (September 2013) with the council’s digital services.
