The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Dr. Brian Fisher is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and an Associate Scholar for the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. His research efforts are dedicated to the prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections in children with immunocompromising conditions. As a member of the Children's Oncology Group he has helped to design and open randomized trials of antibacterial and antifungal prophylaxis therapy in children with leukemia and those undergoing stem cell transplantation. He has also contributed to international efforts such as the recently published pediatric specific guidelines for management of fever and neutropenia. Within his own institution, Dr. Fisher works closely with oncologists to build large cohorts of children with specific malignancies from administrative data. These datasets are then leveraged for important descriptive epidemiology, comparative effectiveness, and safety studies. As a clinician he attends on an inpatient service devoted solely to the care of infections in children that have an immunocompromising condition.
