The Arts Faculty Loans office offers a range of microphones to serve different purposes.
The RØDE NTG-2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, designed for professional applications within the film, video, television and production industries. The NTG-2 operates either from a AA (1.5V) battery or P48 phantom power which can be supplied by professional cameras, audio recorders and power supplies. The battery power option makes the NTG-2 ideal for scenarios where the camera does not supply phantom power such as DSLR video. The WSVM windshield is supplied to minimise light wind noise and plosives during recording. The optional 'DeadCat' furry is recommended for outdoor applications.
The well-known Shure SM58 vocal microphone is designed for professional vocal use in live performance, sound reinforcement, and studio recording. Its tailored vocal response for sound is a world standard for singing or speech. A highly effective, built-in spherical filter minimizes wind and breath "pop" noise. A unidirectional (cardioid) pickup pattern isolates the main sound source while minimizing unwanted background noise. A proven shock-mount system, and a steel mesh grille ensure that even with rough handling, the SM58 will perform consistently, outdoors or indoors.
The Sony wireless microphone package offers the sound quality of digital audio processing combined with the reliability of analogue FM modulation. The high quality omni-directional lavalier microphone offers wide frequency coverage with up to 72 MHz bandwidth across a wide range of channels, with a choice of models to choose from. Easy-to-use features include a large display and small size receiver to fit neatly on the Panasonic Camcorder or DSLR camera, automatic channel setting function, headphone output, USB connection for power supply and line input availability.
