Confessions of a Black Woman: This is MY Story is a short documentary shot in 2005 that documents filmmaker Tamiko Joye Ball getting her first HIV test at the age of 29. Set in Brooklyn and Manhattan, Tamiko explores the reasons as to why HIV and AIDS has hit the Black community so hard and more specifically, Black women.
Tamiko will be shooting a second installment of this piece titled Confessions of a Black Woman: State of EMERGENCY and will begin principal photography in the Summer of 2014. This second piece will delve deeper into the "why" HIV and AIDS is more prevalent among Black Women and explore sexual habits of other races and how they differ.
