This was the project my team and I produced for Global Game Jam 2012. It was my first game jam. If you don't know, Global Game Jam is where game development groups get together and work on a new game based on a secret theme (given us by the organizers). We have 48 hours to agree on an idea, create the assets, implement them, and do as much bug stomping as possible with the time remaining.
The theme was the Orouborus (or the snake that swallows his own tail), and we decided to interpret that in several ways. First the level designs were all based on a circle, the setting is an Aztec temple known as "The Temple of the Feathered Serpent", and the powers the character uses to navigate the maze are sacrifice and rebirth.
Gameplay wise, the character only has a certain amount of lives to escape each level, and in order to proceed he must sacrifice himself to gain use of a specific tool, and then become reborn to continue on.
This is a really buggy product and technically you cannot get passed the 3rd or 4th level, but that's where we were when we ran out of time.
For this project I was the Scrum Master, and also did some 2d Art, Prop Modeling and Texturing, and helped work out key design decisions.
