I've been asked what it's like to fly my RV-6A, a kit plane I built myself over the span of not quite 12 years. That is a question for which there is no single answer; the answers are as varied as the people who build their own aircraft from a kit. This video is my answer to that question.
Some might think my answer reckless; without training and preparation it very well could be.
Some might think my answer is fun; for them, I'd say "Yes, I think so."
Some might think my answer is cool; for them, I'd urge caution and training before trying anything you might have seen here.
Some might think my answer is illegal; for them, I'd point out that all flights were accomplished in accordance with 14 CFR Part 91 - the section of federal aviation regulations that govern personal flights not being operated for compensation or for hire.
Building and flying this aircraft has been the fulfillment of a dream, and I look forward to the next time I get to strap it on and go flying. There's an extra seat - anyone want to ride along?
BTW - if you don't have it already, stop what you are doing right now and go buy the soundtrack to "TRON: Legacy" - the music track is "Derezzed" from that album. Enjoy!
