Pointing to a digital map on a SMART Board, teacher Levi Straight asks, "Who is this dot from? Where are you from?"
But this isn't a geography class. It's AP Calculus Prep.
Using a special calculator, the students select the country where they were born. All the information is then plotted on a map on a SMART Board for everyone to see.
"It's to see how diverse our class is," explains one of the students.
"I wanted to use the TI inspire technology with the TI inspire navigator to show them some of the capabilities and get them excited about using it," says instructor Levi Straight about the calculator. Students also learned about exponential functions in relationship to logarithmic functions.
Students in the AP prep calculus program will be in class from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. five days a week from June into August.
