The oldest redwood is about 3,200 years, many other exceed 600 years. It is one of three species of redwood trees. This, once used in construction, used in cabinetry for its high quality and striking color.
Its natural habitats, which is in fairly humid mountain ranges and grow in groups, taking shelter from strong winds and frost, is confined to a narrow strip of the western United States that extends from southern Oregon to central California.
It was introduced in Europe in 1843 and today is popular in European parks due to its high ornamental value.
