Filmed looking westbound at the 99-Broadway Queue at the Broadway/Commercial Skytrain Station in Vancouver BC. Filmed on January 27th between 6AM-9AM. Video purpose is to understand existing commuter movements when boarding the bus and to try to determine ways to help manage the queue length and form (as to not block the sidewalk). Queue capacity is very important as the far end of the queue (in the distance) begins to back up into the Skytrain station which could result in safety issues. In addition, another goal of the project is to ensure a passable area on the sidewalk. As you'll see in the video, several techniques were tried in real time over the course of a morning to see how different treatments would work. Based on these observations, recommendations were then made for more permanent changes that would both be cost effective and intuitive for the user.
Of note: The 99-Broadway is the busiest bus line in North America.
