View of the 99-Broadway queue facing eastbound - taken between approximately 6:45AM-9:00AM on Monday, January 27th. The purpose of the video is to observe existing passenger movements between the Skytrain system and the 99-Broadway queue. During the video, we add several design interventions to see how passengers react and if it has any impact on overall goals of managing the queue and trying to increase its capacity in a constrained area. The queue capacity is important as the length (behind the camera) wraps into the station and at the peak of the peak, begins to block faregates and creates safety issues. In addition, there is a need to maintain a path of travel along this sidewalk. You can see the use of theater stanchions, yellow tape, arrows, chalk and switchbacks as tools. These will help inform decisions for more permanent design solutions in the future.
