The design of the new 110 bed facility for the city of Al Ain.
Our current design is a complete re-evaluation of the previous 200 bed scheme and in virtually all respects a completely redesigned building. Together with this task the further requirement of a culturally responsible and climate-responsive design that contributes to the community, amenity and enhancement of the city was essential.
Expressed through the architecture itself as in the previous scheme the sustainable energy efficiency for the new scheme is manifested in a unique architectonic way that is both visible and a direct result of responsible, practical and efficient design.
The 'veil' covering the building is designed to act as a sun-shading and ventilation aid, helping minimise thermal loads on systems; a very important element in the Al Ain's harsh climate.
