A TRAIN JOURNEY IN 1910s SICILY

Un ferry boat scarica un treno sulle coste della Sicilia; il vapore si mette in moto, la ferrovia si snoda tra paesaggi brulli e coste pittoresche. Nel frattempo ci vengono mostrate la raccolta dei frutti di mare, il via vai della gente al porto e le rovine degli antichi insediamenti greci: Selinunte, Girgenti. I colori dominanti del film sono il blu del mare, il giallo del sole e un bellissimo viraggio rosso per rendere la maestosità delle rovine che si stagliano contro il cielo.
Il video è la digitalizzazione della copia restaurata realizzata nell'ambito del PROGETTO DI DIGITALIZZAZIONE DEL PATRIMONIO CINEMATOGRAFICO E AUDIOVISIVO promosso dal MIBACT per l'anno 2017: 35mm, triacetato, 105 metri, colore (Desmetcolor), didascalie italiane, muto.
ACROSS SICILY
A ferry boat unloads a train on the coasts of Sicily; the steam engine starts moving, the railway winds through stark landscapes and picturesque coastlines. In the meantime we are shown the gathering of seafood, the coming and going of people at the port and the ruins of ancient Greek settlements: Selinunte, Girgenti. The dominant colours in the film are the blue of the sea, the yellow of the sun and a beautiful red toning to render the majesty of the ruins standing out against the sky.
