What can you achieve when you start spending all your time on snowboarding? How far can you get when you give it ALL IN? Those where the overwhelming questions when I started snowboarding. The answer to me? That the passion to do exactly what your heart beats for is the strongest driver in life!
Some people say, I may have won a few more competitions if only I had not taken that much risk or if I had not pushed the limits all the time. Maybe. But then again: I am not a competitor at first, I never was. My commitment has always been directed towards joy and genuine satisfaction. From the beginning until today I love snowboarding for a few simple things: beeing on a mountain, sharing soulful times, out there in the nature, travelling places, with friends or by myself. Of course, medals and titles are a magnificent recognition for all the effort. And yes, competitions are an important part of sport. But dropping in on fresh powder day or a newly shaped pipe, landing a trick for the first time, sharing these moments with your friends or even the world - that is what lasts forever, that's the magic of snowboarding and it is what I love snowboarding for from the beginning until today!
This movie is about all those moments, about success and failure, about taking risks and taking chances. It''s about that very intense, fast forward, rather short career in the early days of snowboarding. And it is about passing it on to the next generation that feels just the same inner fire, this bringing generations together by the same belief - to give it ALL IN.
I met the 20-year old Michael Haunschmidt from Austria about 4years ago when he showed up at one of my rookie events with his younger brother. Since then he's been filming most of the clips for "Sprungbrett". Last winter he released his first very own snowboard-movie and right now he is out there following the Pow with a crew of snowboard Pros working on his new film. Michi was ALL IN from the very beginning creating this documentary with his immanent passion for film-making. So proud. Thank you, Michi.
