Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2014, the Old East Village Community Association asked founders Frank Filice & Greg Thompson to share their memories of the OEVCA’s early days. On Sunday, January 19th, 2014, the two of them gathered at Greg’s home on Queens Ave with videographer Paul Seale and Old East Village News volunteer, Katie Stewart.
Here, in conversation, they recounted the founding of the OEVCA and some of its subsequent trials and triumphs.
In The Founders Parts I & II, they recount their early impressions of the neighbourhood and the formation of the OEVCA.
Music: "Oboe Rock Thing," Kevin MacLeod
In Part III, they discuss some well-known successes but note that, as Greg points out, “They only happened because we asked.”
