This vfx-reel is an abridged selection of the many visual effects PLANET X FX created for 'Spy of Orange'.
'Spy of Orange' (directed by Dutch director Tim Oliehoek) tells the tale of Bruno (Paul de Leeuw), the terrorist twin brother of clumsy fashion designer François van Vliet (Paul de Leeuw). Bruno is plotting the destruction of The Netherlands and François is the only person who can save us. On his mission he's assisted by secret agents Mustafa (Najib Amhali) and Lena (Jennifer Hoffman).
Containing almost 500 visual effect shots, "Spy of Orange" is the most spectacular visual effect motion picture produced in The Netherlands to date. Opening on the fifth of February this movie, an action comedy by Tim Oliehoek ('Vet Hard'), will be playing in cinemas across The Netherlands. the 8 strong crew of the young visual effects studio PLANET X FX put 7 months of effort into this movie to convincingly realize the adventurous antics of François and Bruno.
The flaunting piece of the visual effects share in this movie is the Dam Square palace in Amsterdam, which is blown-up early on in the story. Especially for this purpose PLANET X FX created a true to life computer model of the monument. This scene, lasting a mere 20 seconds on the silver screen, is the result of months of research and post production. Together with hundreds of blue-screen shots, digital set extensions and having Paul de Leeuw act convincingly as François and Bruno in the same scene, the visual effect shots compile over twenty minutes of the total movie. A first in Dutch cinema!
