Watch videos made during a recent instalment of the collective Japanese underground music event in Tokyo, featured in The Wire 360.
Clive Bell describes the Multipletap night in The Wire 360 as "a potential three-ring circus featuring a score of Japanese underground acts". Multipletap is organised by Katsuyoshi Kou (who also performs during the night), who says "the purpose of this project is not just to hold a concert. If the artists gathered only for that, I would think it was meaningless. But in a few years’ time I want to change the world of this kind of music in Japan. This time we do a festival as one method for London. But we’re not doing this project in order to introduce these artists to the world. I would like to introduce the whole extreme music of Japan as one culture altogether... This kind of music is not understood at all in Japan, this is a big problem."
A London instalment of Multipletap takes place at Cafe Oto, 22–23 February.
