"Recessional" was composed in 1992 for solo organ. I asked the then-director of music at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Boston to listen to a taped recording of it. His comment was, "You really ought to do something with this." I eventually did, but not until about a year or so ago, when I arranged the piece for organ, strings, brass, and choir.
