The Fish Wars are Coming Between Illegal International Fishing on One Front, and Preservationists on the Other. With Recreational Anglers like You and Me Caught Right in the Middle!
Adventure Guides: Ocean Conservation Edition is the newest pilot for the next version of this exciting series from Castle Creek Productions. This new edition profiles Sport Fishing Captains who are in the middle of a two-front war. On one front, sport fishing captains are besieged by giant floating fish factories from foreign countries that illegally harvest hundreds of thousands of fish each day -- and some captains threaten to mount machine guns on their bows to fend them off... On the other front of these fish wars, preservationists blame all fishermen for the ocean’s declining fish stocks and are successfully imposing no-take moratoriums on prime fishing grounds that apply to both commercial and recreational fishermen. But not without a fight! Against this highly charged backdrop, host John Dietsch takes network talent, as well as celebrities, to destination fishing spots around the country and the world to fish for a particular species, highlight conservation issues, promote responsible harvesting and catch and release, while at the same time educating the public about our inherent right to fish the oceans. As certain forces try to discredit saltwater anglers as exploiters -- unconcerned with the health of the marine ecosystem -- Adventure Guides: Ocean Conservation Edition tells the real story of recreational anglers who are on the front lines of ensuring the future of sustainable oceans.
