Can local government keep control ? Can one man fight the railroad & win?
Prairie du Chien, WI – February 4, 2014 – The City of Prairie du Chien and a local business, Old Faithful Inn, have fought to keep the Haydn Street RR crossing open. At this time the score is RR: 1, Small community: 0.
Haydn Street is scheduled to close March 1st, 2014.
The City of Prairie du Chien has thrown in the towel rather than spending a large amount of money for a re-hearing that would have little chance of success according to Mayor Hemmer. But, our intrepid businessman, Keith Coburn & his wife Sharon Frazier remain undaunted facing a giant railroad with little more than a proverbial slingshot.
It is so important to them because their business will be nearly cutoff and isolated from the normal traffic flow if the crossing is closed.
Midwest News interviewed the owner, Keith Coburn to find out how he hopes to keep the crossing open.
