There will be other rallies happening all over the province for further information on rallies happening in your town and more on the ALR please visit: farmlandprotection.ca/
There will be a longer video I and some classmates are working on over this semester for the Farmland Protection Coalition as this rally on the 10th will only be the beginning to starting to create better policy and frameworks to support local farmers and food movements around the province of BC
Protect the Agricultural Land Reserve of British Columbia.
The current bc Liberal government is looking to take out large portions of northern and eastern ALR land for economic development plans. This is an attack to the future uncertainty of our food supply within the province with food insecurity and climate change.
The ALC (agricultural land commission) does need to be revamped (more monitoring, regulation, new support frameworks) and there needs to be further economic supports for young people looking to get into farming to make it a viable occupation for the future. symbiotic farming which gives as much as it takes!
We are all Food activists. I urge you all to come out to voice your opinion and start the discussion on how we will make this local food movement bigger and stronger going forward. protecting the entire ecology for the farmland, the food, and the farmers of the future
