One of the finest parks in Kenya, Samburu National Reserve is located in the drier northern region of Kenya. The rugged hills and arid bush are bisected by the winding Uwaso Nyiro River. The river banks are flanked by Fig palms and Acacia trees and in the deeper parts of the river you will find hippos. The park itself is home to more unique northern species of animals including the Reticulated giraffe, Somali Ostrich, Grevy zebra and the ever so graceful gerenuk.
Samburu National Reserve and the surrounding areas are the tribal homeland for the Samburu people who today still very much lead a semi-nomadic lifestyle by herding cattle, goats and camels.
