The world's oldest flamingo has died at the age of 83 in Australia’s Adelaide Zoo.
Greater the flamingo arrived at the zoo in 19-33 and was a popular attraction. It was the oldest animal in the zoo and the last flamingo of its type in Australia. Zoo officials say that Greater was put to sleep due to complications brought about by arthritis and old age. Flamingos are wading birds with a very specialized diet and have an average lifespan of 20 to 30 years.
