"Pristine, is the only word that comes into mind when i think of Iceland, its beauty is based in only a small area of the world, but beauty never has to be big, when you explore this beautiful country it seems nothing of the small it feels so vast, you can find complete solitude almost anywhere you venture to. This is why Iceland is so special."
My incredible experience of exploring the pristine lands of Iceland ..
This time lapse short film showcases my adventure across the winter landscape of all regions that Iceland has to offer. Iceland is a land of many surprises and hidden secrets, i traveled over the 4,000kms and captured over 30,000 images - I have pushed through all my obstacles to conquer the harsh winter elements that Iceland had thrown at me, from hurricane winds, sub zero temperatures, blizzards, soaking rains, enormous rough seas to the icy roads, rough 4x4 terrains in mountains well off the main roads, high mountain climbs and hikes through thick unforgiving snow, standing on half frozen lakes and being inside unpredictable ice caves! All this as well as losing and breaking my main piece of equipment, my canon 5D mark3 and time lapse cables half way through my trip.
I would say all this has given me the best experience in my photography career and would never change anything, "experience, is the only key to success" .. This is the most uplifting experience to date and will be an adventure of exploring, wondering, seeking and capturing that I'll never forget. I have learnt so much from this amazing adventure through one of the worlds most amazing, surreal countries.. No matter how harsh the winter elements can be in Iceland, the beautiful landscape will always deliver a smile of peace to the soul, for a small country it is so vast and feels like you are the only soul walking the earth .. It feels almost as it is untouched and unexplored, it is a very respected country for it's beauty. I seen no litter my whole trip and barely a foot print on my path!
I will admit the winter weather has dampened my photography a little as the conditions didn't produce that perfect light or colour for all my locations, but with the images i have, i did deliver some rewarding footage from this beautiful country.
