Sea kayak surfing at Surge Narrows, testing the Sony AS-15 camera, comparing the 120 degree and 170 degree angles, and image stabilisation vs. no IS. I should have compared IS vs. no IS at 120 degrees. IS does not seem to be available at 170 but the image is sharp enough. In fact, I suspect that IS introduces some degradation of image. I will test this in the future. I did not tweak saturation, white balance, etc - this is the video straight out of the camera.
The 2nd wave develops at higher current flows, further from the rocks (i.e. "2nd wave from the rocks"), and precedes the 1st wave. Max was 8.3 knots and the 2nd wave filming was at about 7-8 knots. The 170 degree angle makes the wave look smaller but I prefer the fact that you can see more of this great environment!
Maybe the edit is a tad long. Those who wish can skip to the 170 footage at 1:59
Or just enjoy the Zen of the ride!
