We will present two complementary resources, Neurocarta and Gemma, that can help researchers decipher the genetics basis of diseases. Neurocarta (neurocarta.chibi.ubc.ca) is a knowledgebase that consolidates information on genes and diseases across multiple resources and allows one to explore candidate genes for any disorder of interest with an emphasis on neurodevelopmental disorders. Gemma (gemma.chibi.ubc.ca) is a framework designed to support exploration of gene expression data, with a focus on applications to the study of the nervous system. We will demonstrate the use of such gene expression data to identify candidate genes through our in-house analysis using publically available Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder datasets.
