As I have been preparing for this weekend’s time in the Word of God I am wrestling through some issues that I feel compelled to incorporate into our time together. I believe with all my heart that the United States is under God’s judgment. This should not surprise you since we, Americans, have degraded into a post-Christian culture loving all sorts of evil (thus the cause of judgment) but what might be surprising to you are the results of the Lord’s punishment. These things have taken place gradually so most people are completely ignorant of them. Without divine intervention the outlook is quite bleak. For example: we are quickly running out of water and grain (and thus affecting cattle). California is in the midst of the worst drought in the state's 163-year history. Last year was the driest year on record and 2014 is off to a worse start. Last month will go in the books as the driest January ever. Things are so bad that last week the state's Department of Public Health said at least 17 rural communities are in danger of running out of water within the next 100 days. One-third of the nation's crops are gown in our Central Valley and, overall, California farmers produce half of the fruit, vegetables and nuts grown in the United States. California is the biggest food producer in the country and now there is not enough water to irrigate hundreds of thousands of acres so they will be left unplowed.
