The Overture is about being alone in connection, having quiet moments to ourselves when everything else is stripped away trying to navigate our own sense of self. There are dark moments that linger in the backs of our minds; pockets of secrets, regret and self-worth that haunt and overlay with the present. No matter how lovely the people around us, who we exist with or what they mean to us, those moments show us what we need to know about ourselves.
Created based on the dance performance Super Eagle by Kate Wallich + YC, The Overture is a visual landscape to a larger world that exists on stage. The film tells the stories of two relationships side-by-side, starting in the middle and leaving you with the information to form ideas about the beginning and end.
