Actors: a Scotch tape, pencils, the artist’s hand, two dolls, a camera, a wine glass, books with reproductions of works of art, Albrecht Duerer’s Praying Hands, Picasso’s cubist women et cetera.
Strange things happen on the artist‘s desk. The picture of Albrecht Duerer’s famous „Praying Hands“ appear in the lines of the artist’s hand. Books, dolls, a pair of scissors, a pen and a camera are beginning to move and an uninterrupted game of metamorphoses starts. Matthias Beckmann has made all the drawings for his first animation film NO TRICKS by hand. Without any story board he trusts in his associations. No aid of photos, no digital tricks, no human heroes and no hectic rush. In a calm stream of consciousness one thing evolves from another.
Ort der Handlung: der Arbeitstisch des Zeichners
Darsteller: Tesaroller, Stifte, die Hand des Zeichners, zwei Puppen, Fotoapparat, Weinglas, Bücher mit Reproduktionen von Kunstwerken, Dürers Betende Hände, Picassos kubistische Frauen u.a.
Sonderbare Dinge ereignen sich auf dem Arbeitstisch des Zeichners. In den Linien seiner Handfläche erscheint Dürers Bild der betenden Hände. Bücher, Puppen, Schere, Stift und ein Fotoapparat setzen sich in Bewegung und ein fortlaufendes Spiel der Verwandlungen beginnt. Der Berliner Künstler Matthias Beckmann zeichnet in seinem ersten Film KEINE TRICKS alles von Hand und läßt ohne Storyboard seinen Assoziationen freien Lauf. Es gibt keine fotografischen oder digitalen Hilfsmittel, keinen Filmschnitt, kein Storyboard, keine Helden und keine Hektik. In einem ruhig fließenden Bewußtseinsstrom entwickelt sich ein Ding aus dem anderen.
