A historical home in Ripley, Ohio has been restored by its current owner. Beyond being built in the early 1800s this house was a home to a family that impacted history. The Rev. Thomas Williamson MD lived there with his family for about six years prior to their leaving for the mission fields of the Western Minnesota Territory's Dakota Indians in 1835. Through the efforts of Rev. Williamson, Rev. Stephen Riggs, and aided by others the Dakota language was put onto written form, a Dakota - English dictionary produced, and the Bible was Translated into Dakota.
