We are Visual! Education and Audio-Visualization of Human Rights (WAVE) is a partnership project aiming to promote human rights education by using documentary film and audiovisual arts.
By targeting both formal and informal educators, as well as students aged 12-16, We are Visual strives to enrich the curriculum by creative and participatory use of visual materials in teaching human rights and issues of social concern. It also raises awareness among young people on their rights and responsibilities, sensitizes them to the rights of others and encourages responsible action, and thus contributes to an inclusive society.
WAVE is not simply a revision of existing human rights education tools, but a new way of thinking and acting which requires and facilitates “culture change”.
WAVE offers a Human Rights Audiovisual Educational Toolkit for teachers, facilitators and educational agents. It consists of a Teaching Manual, an Audio-Visual Teaching DVD and a universally accessible Audio-Visual Web-platform.
The project is supported by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA).
