This are some of the almost 30 scenes I have worked in for the animation feature Minhocas (Worms) produced by Animaking. The movie was animated in stop-motion. My work was to create the cg dust sims you see in the video, I also had to re-model the sets and track cameras in order for the dust to collide and shadows to be cast (thats why you see the wireframes).
The dust was simulated with a fluid solver called emHelios (aka emFluid 5), created by Eric Mootz (mootzoid.com/) and implemented for Softimage, it was then rendered in Mental Ray using the baVolume shader by Holger Schöenberger (binaryalchemy.de/).
