Since I uploaded my demo some hours ago, I've been getting some questions about my process in both animation and render. I like very efficient renders, hate waiting for subsurface scattering or any fancy shaders. I'm hoping this will help some people understand how to do fast and not so bad looking renders. The trick for me is to render without lights from maya and do it all in comp. Most layers rendered in about a second per frame. A except for the occlusion pass, that was about 20 sec per frame. As far as animation, you'll notice I heavily rely on reference. It's quite embarrassing to make it public, but it's all for a good cause. Feel free to ask any questions, will do my best to answer them =)
