The Washington Coliseum: The Forgotten Landmark

JH | Photography + Motion

Produced on behalf of the DC Preservation League using funding from the Monument Mitigation Grant, this 22-minute documentary explores the history of The Washington Coliseum. Events occurring in and around this landmark building, also known as Uline Arena, mirrors the social history of the city, from the battle against segregation in the 40s and 50s to the social and demographic changes throughout the 70s and 80s. Located in the NOMA neighborhood in the North East section of the city, the coliseum was a haven for entertainment throughout its 40-year life span, which included The Beatles' first North American concert.
