I conducted this interview with my grandfather Nicholas P. Santoro on November 8th, 2007, the day after his 93rd birthday. My grandfather was a postman in New York City during the Great Depression, and may have been among the earliest bicycle messengers in Manhattan. During the course of this discussion my grandfather talks about the types of bikes commonly used at the time, and about his own relationship with bicycles over the years.
