“Winnow” is an evolving sound sculpture generated by storing sounds that are eliminated during a performance. Sounds that are removed will later reintroduce themselves and perform a creation of their own. Performed with one wine glass half full of water, a wooden shaker box, and a ukelele, each instrument is recorded and looped until the performer is content with the recording. The eliminated recordings are stored and played back at random after they accumulate and interpret the current performance. Eventually this piece morphs into a performance of its own making, and is ultimately no longer controlled by the performer.
