Step-Lock is a low-cost and easily remoldable “below the knee” prosthesis. The prosthesis consists of three parts- a thermoplastic mold that interfaces with the leg, the pylon, and the foot. Its unique design and assembly makes it ideal for use in regional hospitals in low resource settings. Steplock costs 30% less than the current standard of care and has virtually no maintenance costs.
As we move forward with device implementation, a major paradigm shift is necessary. We are aware that cultural acceptance will be difficult, but by utilizing existing distribution channels, we can effectively introduce our product to regional markets.
We are a devoted team of engineering and medical students working towards bringing this prosthesis to the international market. We had a successful pilot study with one patient in the US and are planning a larger study locally and abroad.
With Step-Lock, mobility is a commodity everyone can afford. People can return to their livelihoods and provide for their families. Help us bring independence to those who need it most.
