Leif Holmstrand– Housework
Duration: 20 min
In Housework, Holmstrand wears a black nightgown over his normal men’s clothes, black ladies gloves on his hands and a plastic grocery bag over his head. Leif mixes together ten eggs, dried herbs, black pepper and some water. He places a tie on an iron board and brushes it with the egg and herbal mixture on both sides. With an oven paper on top of the tie he bakes it with an iron. When the tie is ready he gives it away to some one in the audience while signing a phrase from the musical Rocky Horror Picture Show - “Don’t dream it, / be it” repeatedly.
Leif Holmstrand (b. 1972 lives and works in Malmö, Sweden) belongs to the younger generation's most interesting artists in Sweden today. With his art he combines traditional handcraft with a fascination for horror and burlesque popular culture.
