2014 Winter in Maloja, GR - Switzerland
Shot with BMPCC ProRes in real "pocket" mode: Only with Panasonic 14mm or 20mm in the jacket pocket.
Mostly handheld. Tripod used on some rare shots with Olympus 45mm or time-lapse. Fotga Slim Fader ND.
Stabilized in FCPX with severe quality loss and wobbling.
Edited and color corrected in FCPX.
Music by Tomoyasu Hotei.
If all your gear has to go into your pocket, then you have to rely heavily on software stabilization.
Tripod/Monopod/Stabilizer is in fact a must for this camera. But if stealth or minimal run'n'gun is important, it is kind of possible to get by.
Zebra was first set to 100 which wasn't working in bright snow. Gut feeling is needed for those difficult conditions. Noise of night shots was much better than expected considering the small sensor size.
The ProRes Master FIle looks good, Vimeo conversion out of FCPX is really mushy and you loose so much details.
Does Handbrake a better job here? Any help on optimizing the Vimeo image quality is appreciated.
