Neglected on the fire escape, a pitiful houseplant waits desperately for its owner to water it.

Shot on 16mm b&w reversal for a production course at Brooklyn College, Houseplant was my first experience shooting on film. The film was transferred most affordably by the nice folks at scanyourfilm.com.

The constraints of the Bell & Howell Filmo's prime lenses (12.5, 25, and 75mm), together with the physical constraints of the fire escape, made the shoot more challenging, but also more fun, than I expected. The final film ultimately benefited from those constraints.

Big, big thanks to everyone who helped me out!

And in case anyone's wondering, the story was inspired by The Velveteen Rabbit, NOT the Ikea lamp commercial.
