Librarians have long been in the business of data management, or information management, but the recent focus on data management has primarily been focused outside of the library. As libraries market data management skills to faculty and grad students to assist them in complying with NSF and NIH requirements and manage increasingly larger data sets, libraries could benefit from the same data management guidelines, practices, and tools to carry out the work of library management. Connie Stovall, Assistant Director for Collection Management at Virginia Tech Libraries, and colleagues Annette Bailey and Monena Hall present findings of an internal data audit they conducted at VT Libraries, as well as an overview of guidelines, practices, tools for data management for library data in academic libraries. Original webinar date = February 19, 2014.
