This summer me and my balcony got really well aquatinted. I would sit listen to my ipod and take pictures of the moon in response to raw emotional trauma. It was my break from editing a music video of insane pattern visuals to an Ozric Tentacles song and some web work. Around that time I found on youtube a version of Fiona Apple covering After You've Gone that I adored. First heard the song during the end death hallucination movie shoot scene in Bob Fosse's All That Jazz along time ago and looked for good covers time to time. I had 8 or 9 version's of it on my ipod that has since crashed. In 2009 lots of strange, to me, lunar events took place, the 40th anniversary of apollo 11, the release of the movie Moon, the rocket at the moon experiment, the ice reflections ring around the moon, they all caught my mind. I got a few shots of the moon at different points during the summer, fall, and winter of 2009. Editing it together amounts to another self portrait photo montage piece that was very meditative for me. It was shot on the glitchy CanonA95 and edited Final Cut Pro. audio of Fiona Apple is mixed with train noises from my balcony. I called it New Moon for number of reasons, but most for the idea of cycles, waxing and waning. I post it now cause I am out of the cycle that felt the need to make it.
