We followed the weather again this weekend and were not disappointed. The sun shone all day combating the bitter cold and high winds., Taking the east route straight up from the upper car park following anchors as far as possible, the snow was deep and crisp and even. The masts and buildings atop Cairnwell are encrusted with a thick layer of rime to the detriment of mobile phone signals in the area while creating something extraordinarily beautiful. Far from being detrimental, the bustle of the ski slopes with the boarders and ski tourers provided an interesting and welcome change, everyone was keen to relate their experiences and the elation of such a wonderful day was confirmed by one young girl overheard in the car park telling her mother "it was the best day ever." A sentiment echoed to some extent by Kathleen and Myself.
